They had apparently been disturbed during the building of lewes railway line.

I live not far from Castle Acre, de Warren's and gundreda Norfolk home. I recently visited the castle and priory(the first clunic priory in UK)

It's very unspoilt, linked to the outside world by a single track road.
There is a gate leading into the most beautiful little village and more than a few stones left of the house and moat.

The priory is breathtaking. Part of it has the de Warren checker Flint and brick, which you see a lot on older churches in Norfolk and Suffolk. Hardly surprising as the family were church law advisors until Henry the 8th sacked the monistries.

My family line then changed it's name somewhat, either through necessity or illiteracy.

My great grandmother always said we were frenchies, hailed from Yarmouth. There were ten hughons and one of them was a Gérard.

She also had two medieval pots with ugly frog faces from the time of the plague. We still have them.

Glad I worked out where our weird name came from. Guymors, goymour, gimmers and gammers inhabit Norfolk and I guess the local accent added to confusion amongst church recorders.
